CHARTERED SURVEYOR

In 1988, following the sale of a successful surveying and estate agency business in the UK, Charles moved with his family to Valbonne. At the time, there were no French business plans, but requests for property advice quickly indicated demand for a Chartered Surveyor based in the south of France. In the autumn of 1988, Charles Mackintosh Chartered Surveyors was inaugurated.

Charles is established as the ‘go to’ person for property advice in the south of France. Over 35 years advising clients in France has given Charles an enviable insight into the workings of the south of France property market.

Besides undertaking building surveys for international purchasers, Charles has organised and managed the construction and renovation of many exceptional villas and estates. He has also negotiated the purchase and sale of numerous exceptional properties. Having qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1972, Charles is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, where he is also a registered valuer.

Outside property and construction, food, wine, rugby and entertaining friends with his wife Kathryn are Charles’ main interests.

Harry Mackintosh

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Harry was 7 years old when he arrived in France. Schooled in Valbonne and Nice, Harry is well adapted to living and working in France, where he now manages building projects for Charles Mackintosh Chartered Surveyors.

Being fully bi-lingual, Harry has an excellent rapport with both clients and trades. His eye for detail is particularly useful to clients at both the design stage and throughout construction. His management experience ranges from organising the underpinning of a large villa in the Var to the full renovation and upgrade of two neighbouring villas at La Croix-Valmer

Outside work Harry has a keen interest in French wine. He is a supporter of the Welsh rugby team and Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club. Harry has a young daughter, who is a regular visitor to the south of France.

Amy Mackintosh

After obtaining the International Baccalauréat at the CIV International School at Valbonne, Amy returned to university in the UK, obtaining her BSc degree from Warwick. A career in management consultancy followed, which included advising top management at companies such as IBM and Deutsche Bank. In 2016, Amy decided to adapt her business skills to the needs of Charles Mackintosh Chartered Surveyors, and joined the company in France.

Back in France, Amy quickly became involved in construction management, where her business experience and attention to detail was invaluable. Within a short time, Amy had the full confidence of important clients and was managing and co-ordinating multi million Euro projects, including the major renovation and extension of one of Mougins’ finest villas.

Amy continues to manage medium and large construction projects from Monaco to St Tropez. She has established an enviable reputation as a construction site trouble shooter, but prefers clients to contact her at the outset and before they encounter problems. Amy’s advice is valued by lawyers, bankers, accountants and other property professionals. She maintains close contact with many family office managers.

Amy is fully bi-lingual French-English and has a conversational knowledge of Spanish and Italian. With her considerable construction industry experience, Amy has gained direct entry to the RICS to become a Chartered Surveyor.
